Mixing Ultra 3 and Ultra 320 HDD as RAID-5 ?

Hi,

I got HP DL 380 G4 that I'd like to rebuild with 6x HDD, so i can insert and create RAID 5 LUn with the following

3x 72.8GB 10k rpm - Ultra 3 SCSI
3x 72.8GB 10k rpm - Ultra SCSI 320

they seems to be fine from the Windows Server install.

I didn't tried to mix with faster drive eg. 15k rpm since the rotation difference could create problem later on.

Does anyone face any problem with that configuration above or is that OK ?
Best regards,

I would never mix drives on RAID. I only use the identical drives when doing RAID. You will have less issues.

It'll work, but you'll be restricted by the SCSI-3 interface of the older disks.

ok, got it, the reason why I'm mixing those drives is that I need more space in a RAID set, therefore making 2x RAID 5 set with each drive type was not enough.

thanks for your reply.
