Ml350 G4 Networking: Wont find Gigabit switch But finds 100mbit

Hi,
My Ml350 G4p Server Was running fine on a 10/100 switch, I brought a gigabit switch. When I use a 1 meter cable to the server it is fine and it lights up as gigabit. When I use my longer one which is 15 meters it won't work. When the server is off but the power supply is still going it lights up but only for 100mb. I am guessing it is for WOL. But when the server is on the light goes away. I know that cable works because I had it working 10/100 fine. I also know that the server is definitely gigabit.

Any Suggestions?

Just to confirm i pluged my gigabit desktop on that cable and it works.

Hi Nick,

I'd suggest trying a second 15m network lead and see if that gets the server to link up at 1000Mb/s. Some server/switch combinations are quite fussy about the cable being exactly within specification.

I'd just make sure it's a CAT-6 cable.
