Modifying temperature threshold

Hello,

I am being spammed by messages regarding the Power Enclosure temperature being too high.

<25>Apr 18 09:48:44 hostname cpqriisd: Caution : Machine Environment : Power Enclosure Overheating (Zone 1, Location Power Supply, Temperature 35C, Enclosure Serial Number xxxxxxxxxx)

The temperature constantly switches between 35 and 34 degrees, which is exactly the threshold. So I get some thousand or more e-mails a day...

How can I raise the temperature threshold so that I will only be warned when the temperature rises significantly?

We are running PSP 7.11 on RHEL 3.0.

Thanks in advance,
Marco

Re: Modifying temperature threshold

You can't. You are seriously reducing the useful life of the equipment by operating it that high.

Have you implemented the hot-zone/cool-zone data center design?

Re: Modifying temperature threshold

Yes, we absolutely have.

The unfortunate thing is we're generating too much warmth for the datacenter airco to handle.

FYI, we are running 48 HP BL20p/BL30p blade servers, plus 2 NetApp Filers, plus a Cisco 6509 switch per 3 racks. That generates a lot of heat and we know it. But there isn't much we can do about it. Especially the blades are generating a lot of hot air.

Regards,
Marco
