Move disks to Smart Array Controller on different server

Hello,

we have an RX6600 with a P400 controller configured with one logical drive #1 RAID 5 (8 disks).
Now we want to move the disks to another RX6600 with P400 controller. The hardware configuration between the servers is exactly the same.

According to the "HP Smart Array P400 and P800 Controller for Integrity Servers Support Guide" pg. 63 it should be possible keeping exactly the same positions for the disks as before.

After shutdown of the source server we moved the disks to the destination server and powered on the server. We have checked that the logical drive is shown in the ORCA tool.
But the boot from the primary boot path failed because the drive was not found.

Loading: HP-UX Primary Boot: 0/6/0/0/0/0/2/0/0/0.0.0
Load of HP_UX Primary Boot: 0/6/0/0/0/0/2/0/0/0.0.0 failed: Not found

Did we miss any step? Any comments or tricks?

Thanks.

The RAID information is stored in the RIS area on each disk. Moving the drives to another system with the same controller should work fine. Make sure the system your moving the drives to has the same or newer version of controller firmware. Moving drives to a controller with older firmware can casue problems.

Jimmy thanks for your reply. The firmware version for both P400 (source and destination) is 5.20. Is there a newer one available?
