Moving Disks between servers

I would like to know if it is possible to place a disk drive in an empty bay on DL385, create a logical drive, move data onto it, then remove it, place it in a second DL385 server and retrieve the data? And can it be done without a reboot? Will it require any special process other than pulling and then adding to the second server?

BTW, this is only a data only drive and not a System/Bootable disk.

Thanks

Re: Moving Disks between servers

Yes, but you will not be able to remove it without a reboot.

The whole "hot swap" idea is about pulling out failed drives. You have no way of knowing your data has been written to that disk (as opposed to being cached somewhere) unless you shutdown your server.

It should be able to hot plug into the alternate server.
