Moving RAID setups from one array card to another

Moving RAID setups from one array card to another

I have 2 proliant servers. Both are DL 380s. The first one is a g3 with a smart array5i. The second is a g4 with smart array 6i. If I setup 2 drives running raid 10 on the smart array card 5i in the g3, install the os, then take the two drives out and put them into the g4 with the smart array 6i. Will the drives go over intact. If not is there a way to move the raid config from the server with the 5i and move it to the server with the 6i?

Thanks

The Drives will go over intact.

The OS, assuming Windows... will not boot.

You will need to update your registry with the 6i Reg Entry for the server to boot.

Make sure you download the PSP to the server before hand. you may need to install it after the fact for drivers to get back on the network. (Or have it on CD)
