I need to replace an ML350 G5 (Windows Server 2003) with a new DL380 G5.
I have a RAID1 array on the ML350G5.
Can I just configure a RAID1 array on the new server and move the disks from the old server to the new server?
If not possible, can I just perform a backup of the ML350 and restore it on the DL380?
Shoud I use any tool to transfer/convert the disks without losing the installed OS and applications?
Regards
Marius

hi,
both servers have smart array controllers, e200i and p400i.
they have roaming capabilities, just move the hdd's (hard drive) from one server to the other, all the information like RAID level, striping size... are stored in the RIS copies, RIS copies are located in the first part of the HDD platters
it is recommended to have a back up ...better to be in the safe side
