There are two identical servers. HP Proliant DL 380 G4 with Smart Array 6i in Embedded Slot. One of them was broken. We know nothing about its array configuration. Is it possible to move the disks to another server and save data? Can we see volumes and another stuff and launch OS?

SolutionYes you can move the disks over to the other system. The RAID configuration is stored on the disks, not the smart array controller. The only time you may run into an issue is if the smart array firmware on the replacment system is older than what was on the original. keep the disks in the same drive bays when moving to the replacmeent system

Re: Moving disks to another server.
2.84 is the last version. I found about it on HP site.
Thank you for your help! We saved data from these disks.
