Moving from RAID 0+1 to RAID 5

Hey Everyone,

We have an HP ML350 G3 with two 72GB drives configured as RAID 0+1 configured with two partitions C:\ (OS) and D:\ (data). We would like to upgrade from RAID 0+1 to RAID 5. The server is a W2K3 domain controller.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this?

Kind Regards,

Mark

Re: Moving from RAID 0+1 to RAID 5

Hi,

I assumes you are using SA 532 as it is hipped with most of the models.
Ans SA 532 supports follwoing features
Online Management Features: Online Capacity Expansion, Online RAID Level Migration, Online Stripe Size Migration, Online Spares (Global), User Selectable Expand and Rebuild Priority.

So we can go head with the above process. What we can make use of is ACU.

Re: Moving from RAID 0+1 to RAID 5

Thanks Prashant for your help.

From the link you provided I found the following manual:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/CoreRedirect.jsp?targetPage=http%3A%2F%2Fh200001.www2.hp.com%2Fbc%2Fdocs%2Fsupport%2FSupportManual%2Fc00142272%2Fc00142272.pdf

Chapter 3 provided a great deal of information on how to perform a migration from RAID 0+1 to RAID 5 for me. I have not tested this but I do advise to anyone to do a full backup of the server before doing any kind of migration.

cheers,

Mark
