Multi Processor Upgrage

Multi Processor Upgrage

I just added a 2nd CPU to a Proliant ML350 G3 and upgraded the processor drives to the ACPI Multiprocessor PC. When rebooting the system the BIOS shows 2 CPU's, however Windows 2000 seems not to recognize the 2nd CPU. Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

The only information that I have been able to find is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/252326/en-us and I am not sure I have the software described in the article.

Thank you,

Re: Multi Processor Upgrage

I am Running Windows 2000 Server SP4 and the processors are both 2.4 GHz Xeon. Both of the processors also have the voltage regulator installed.

Thank you

Re: Multi Processor Upgrage

Are them multi-core?
your windows licence is for ... how many CPUs?
may be for this reason ...

Re: Multi Processor Upgrage

They are single core, and Windows 2000 Server I good for either 2 or 4 processors.

Re: Multi Processor Upgrage

The article your talking about is too old. It was when we use to be CPQ, therefore, I think you must have Windows 2000 Enterprise to support both procesors.

But anyway let me search a lil more about this issue, and Ill post a new reply about it

Re: Multi Processor Upgrage

I have some questions for you?:

- Did you upgrade the System ROM to the latest version?
- Are the both processor with the same stepping mode?
- Is it there any error code in the System Event Viwer or the Inisight Diagnostics from the SmartStar CD?

Thanks!
