Multiprocessor setup

Multiprocessor setup

When booting, the two processors show up. But in W2K Server, I see only one processor under the Performance tab; and in Device Manager, I see Standard PC driver for processor. Is there a driver available to correct this? The computer runs surprisingly well, so I don't know if it is using two processors or one.

Thanks for your help.

Hi

Please see the following technet articles.

HOW TO: Add Support for Multiple Processors in Windows 2000

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;234558

You should also install the latest BIOS to enable new features that are used in Windows 2000, such as ACPI support. You can find all the updated files and drivers needed for Windows 2000 at the Compaq download support site:

Re: Multiprocessor setup

Firmware is up to date. I don't know if I have an APCI system or not. Setting the processor driver from Standard PC to MPS Multiprocessor PC disables the system, so I don't think that works. We already know that I can't go from Standard PC to APCI by simply changing the driver in Device Manager. Doing the F7/F5 thing, reinstalling W2K as an "upgrade" seems to work, except that APCI Multiprocessor PC doesn't show up; the only reasonable choice is Other. I don't have a diskette with a profile for my hardware, one that contains the txtsetup.oem file. If I had that, do you think I would be following the right steps to enable multiple processors on my Proliant 5000?

Thanks for your time.

Re: Multiprocessor setup

I'm having the same problem with a 2500(E50) & 2p array controller(4.50B). I have all the latest rompaqs and the only way it will load W2K is with the standard pc hal. I wish they would figure out what the problems is and fix it.
