SolutionNo there is no trick for NIC installation. Other then that you need to run System Configuration Utility anytime a new hardware is installed in the system. You can do it a couple of ways...1) By hitting F10 when prompted to do so or 2) By using Smart Start CD.
Cheers,

Re: NIC Installation
We tried as per your advice but we get the message that this utility is not available on your system or something like that. The Smart Start CD we have is 6.20 which does not let us run the utility. By the way this is a PL5500 we have.
Thanks!

Re: NIC Installation
That's not a problem. In the absence of Smart Start 5.50b which you need, you can download System Configuration utility from the following link:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/13227.html
Extract SP19619 to four formatted floppies. COLD boot the system with the first diskette and then just follow the onscreen instructions.

Re: NIC Installation
there might have few steps you may try to verify.
1. upgrade Rompaq for server
2. check if nic exist is BIOS
3. install O/S
4. install drivers ( most nic
will detect by windows
2000 ) if not, you have
to download to most updated driver for the nic.
BTW, please advice the O/S you try to install and also
the version of the smartstart. Thank you!
