NIC not switching to Half Duplex

I have a series of DL380 & DL360 G2's that we have built with a Windows 2000 server SP2 using smartstart 5.2 and 5.3
We are unable to change the adaptors to half duplex, either by setting them manually or setting them to auto sensing. Using the CPQTEAM utility it always shows up as FULL Duplex.
Has anyone else experienced this or is it displaying incorrect information ?
We were getting constant collisions on the switch when it and the adaptor were set to half duplex, and is only marginally better when both are set to 100/FULL.
