NICS don't work after HP SUM updates
hello, i have used the CLI of HP SUM 6.2.0 to install updates. i then rebooted the server and when it came up, all its NICS didn't get an IP from DHCP. this is a PROLIANT G7 server. any idea why?
**this is my first post here. i am sorry if i am posting in the wrong forum.

Can you spicify the server model and NICs model, did you update the FW and drivers both?
did you try to disable the NIC and reenable?

Before upgrading a Firmware you have to update drivers first. Usually release note contain information about minimal version of drivers before upgrading a Firmware.

Please provide some more details. Which OS - Windows, some flavor of Unix/Linux? If Windows, which version? Also, which version of the SPP are you running - 2013.09, 2014.02, ... ? Are you seeing the NICs in POST?
There are some known issues with 2014.02 and the Broadcom 1 GB NIC drivers on the DL385 G7's with Win 2008. The other possibility (though I haven't crossed paths with this one myself) is there are some firmware updates that could mess up the same NICs.

For this reason you should not use SPP 2014.02, but 2014.02 (B) only!
BTW, 2014.06 should be available soon.

You have not clarified which operating system you are using.. Lets assume your using the most common which is Windows.
If you download the SPP 2014.02.00(B) and run it within the operating system you'll likely resolve this issue.
With the SPP you can update most firmware and drivers from within the Operating system depending on the model of server and the hardware installed.
