NT4 to 2000 Upgrade running extremely slo

I recently tried upgrading a Proliant 6000 to Windows 2000. The upgrade ran so slow I had to abort it. When the upgrade reaches the file copy portion of setup (after a long time), it runs at about 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried copying the Win2k CD locally and running the upgrade again with no luck. Any ideas where the problem could be? The server is configured as follows.

Proliant 6000
4 - PIII Xeon CPUs
1,792 MB of RAM
SMART Array 3200
12 - 9.1 GB 10k Wide-ultra SCSI hard drives (1 logical drive)
NC3131 dual port NIC
Emulex LP8000 HBA
