Need Intense Memory Test Tool for DL580 G7 with 256GB RAM

Hi, Does HP (or another) have a good tool which can identify which ram module is faulty?

We have experienced system hanging under heavy load with no indication of why. We have a duplicate live system which is working fine at a different site but the Standard built in memory  diagnostics test have not indentified where the problem is.  A few months ago all the ram was swapped with the live system and that hung after 30mins of heavy load.

Hello Andrew,

If you are suspecting the Memory which is causing the hang, you might try offline diagnositis of DIMMS using SmartStart CD. Boot the server with SmartStart CD and run mulitple loops memory diagnostics.

If it is not possible to identify all the defective DIMM with the data collected in online tests, it is possible to run a memory test from HP Offline Diagnostics by booting the server from an HP Smart Start CD.
"Select Quick Test and memory to perform a fast check for the most common errors. A single loop of memory tests from the Quick Test menu will typically complete in less than 5 min.

Select Custom or Complete test to perform more extensive testing. Most of the tests are real time tests performed against the DIMMs. The exception is the ECC test performed by the Custom or Complete tests. The ECC test checks for historical data in the IML and will report an error if it finds ECC errors logged in the IML.

This means that if an ECC error happened in the past and the DIMM has been replaced, but the error still is present in the IML, the test may still show an error. To avoid this, it is important that the IML is saved and cleared, or the actual error is marked as repaired in the IML when a DIMM with ECC errors is replaced. "

I have already run the quick memory test. I'm looking for something more extensive if it is  available.

Hello,

lets try memtest from http://www.memtest.org/, it is very usefull program with very intensive memory test.

Anyway, please be sure you ahve latest bios and firmwares in your server, maybe the was fix for your issue.
