Need additional HD storage for DL165G7; Hard drive purchase from...?
I have a DL165G7, non-hotswap server. It has 2 hard drives in it already, 1st has the OS (windows 2008 R2). and the 2nd is 1TB has files.
The 2nd Hard drive is filling up. So I need to install another hard drive. When I look at HP's site, this server is suggesting:
508040-001 2TB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive - 7,200 RPM, 3GB/sec transfer rate, 3.5-inch large form factor (LFF)
(also a 1TB and 3TB). but this drive is $300-$500
What is the difference between this drive and going to a different site and purchasing a simular hard drive? Say I went to Newegg and bought a 2TB sata drive. Would that install and work just as well?
Thanks in advance
Scott

Re: Need additional HD storage for DL165G7; Hard drive purchase from...?
HI:
Of course it will work fine! But HP will not offer warranty to 3rd-party hardware!
