Need help for Compaq Proliant 3000 - Events 7000 & 1611.

Hi, and Merry Christmas to you all.
My question is:
1) Shall I have any side effects by running Sp10460 to a Compaq proliant 3000 server with event ID 7000 (=RTL8139 Fast Ethernet Adapter Driver service failed to start due to the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning)? If not, then can I do this from a folder on a hard disk -in order to do it soon enough) since I have a damaged floppy disk drive?
Doing this, does server status has to be idle (not working) or it dosen't matter at all?

By the softpack number it looks like it is ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for Compaq ProLiant 3000(P09) Servers
VERSION: 05/28/1999
LANGUAGE: English

But there is latest updates are available in the site
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/69_1112.html

you cannot do this upgrade from a folder on a hard disk, you may need to boot the server using this diskette.
