Need help with a Compaq Proliant 800 Server issue

I am trying to find some info SOMEWHERE on the web site to correct an issue with a Compaq Proliant 800 server but am not having much luck. Can anyone point the way? Thanks in advance.

The issue that I am having is that I am trying to install Windows NT 4.0 onto the server. It appears that the System Partition Utilities has been deleted or disabled. When I power up the server, it is giving me the error message "Missing system disk or disk error" even without a disk in the floppy drive. I am trying to get it to read the SmartStart disk in the CD ROM drive but not having much success.

See manual for Internal Components and settings, you need to Clear NVRAM, bring System to minimum Configuration, remove any Optional devices, verify Jumpers, mess can be anywhere so a few steps has to be done

If you are trying to install winnt 4.0, boot the server using smart start run the system erase utility, and start the installation.
if you cannot boot from the cd create a system erase diskette.

Does the server attempt to read the CD? Do you have another CDROM to try temporarily in the server? Or any other bootable CD to try - maybe Windows 2K or XP - just to see if the CDROM is fuctioning.

What version of Smart Start are you using?

I have a similar issue, I downloaded the floppy and it did allow me to configure my system for the Linux install I want however it removed the partitions on the HDDs and now I can't access the CDROM to install it again. It won't boot to the CD.
