Hello! I was wondering if I could have an expert help me out with a project.
I ordered a board, and need the pinout of the front power connection for manual power-on without a header.
The Designator is J98 on board HP 603887-001 on a HP Proliant DL165 G7 system board. Item #25 on the service manual.
All I would like to do is power test the board with no FP button.
Thanks, glad to be here and using HP equipment.
Jacob M.

Re: Need pinout for DL165 G7 Motherboard Front Panel Header
I'm beginning to wonder if a Front panel header is even required.
See this image from a SL165Z where there is no front panel, but the same board is used.
How does this function?

SolutionDigging deeper, I only found this:

and this:
I would normally test the FP header for +5v to verify this pinout, but I think the best way to do this would be to force-reset ILO by a bios reset somehow, then access the ILO to power on and diagnose the machines. If you arent running the power control header pins, you might need to manually short PWR_SW to ground as the Power control header (rumoredly) controls the powering on of the redundant power supplies. This would be the only effective solution to this issue unless the motherboard diagrams could be provided.
I will test this and post back results else anyone else has reccomendations.
