Need to learn about RAID

I just acquired a Compaq Proliant 6500 and installed 7 9GB HDDs in it and Windows 2000 server.

Can anyone tell me how to configure raid. I've never done a raid setup before, so i don't even know where to go to configure it.

As much info as you can give me would be great. I'm an ultra newbie at this.

Take a read of this link for an overview of RAID:

Once you have decided on the type of RAID(s) and what size logical volumes you will define for your server, you should use the tools best suited for Compaq servers.

If you have a SmartStart CD, the best thing to do is let it assist you in the build of your server (I highly recommend using this). If you do not and wish to get one, click here: http://hp.productorder.com/smartstart/HPfront.asp and select SmartStart 5.50. (It's only $22.00 and worth it!)

Hi, I purchased the Smart Start CD and used it to boot. It formatted my 0 drive again and installed Windows 2000 nicely, but I never saw any information on how to configure Raid? Can anyone help shed some light on this and where I can go to configure Raid?
