Network monitor object in performance monitor

Hi

I have a windows 2000 HP-Compaq Server (Proliant ML530) which I have

installed the Windows 2k windows component: Network monitor. However I still cannot see the Network Interface object in performance monitor.

The NIC is a NC7770.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is ?

Regards

Re: Network monitor object in performance monitor

Check that perfnet object (perfnet.dll) is enabled (you can use Exctrlst.exe for checking)

Re: Network monitor object in performance monitor

I've checked exctrlst.exe and perfnet.dll is running on that server.

But I cannot see it in performance monitor

Re: Network monitor object in performance monitor

Sorry, my mistake, you need to enable TCPIP (perfctrs.dll) object with Exctrlst.exe

Re: Network monitor object in performance monitor

How do you do that ? Forgive me for asking a stupid question but I have read the readme with that tool (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/exctrlst-o.asp) and it doesn't show how to install the counters/object.

Aaah, just had another look ... you check the Check box right ?

Re: Network monitor object in performance monitor

Yes, select "Performance Counters Enabled" and restart the service.

Re: Network monitor object in performance monitor

I think you don't need to restart any service, just check checkbox "TCPIP (perfctrs.dll)" and it must work (i test it now on windows 2000 server)

Re: Network monitor object in performance monitor

The solutions thanks to Igor Karasik on the HP Forums. I needed to use exctrlst.exe (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/exctrlst-o.asp) to enable the counter.
