Network not working RILOE II Card

I installed an RILOE II card in my G2 server, and I can do the DOS based setup utility, but it is not responding on the network to the IP address I assigned to it. I confirmed that the IP is good and the network cable is good. I also confirmed the network interface is set to "On" in the ILO setup. I'm kind of out of ideas, any suggestions?

Re: Network not working RILOE II Card

Just trying to get the RIOLE II card to work properly. When you start the machine, you can press F8 at the correct time and set up the ILO (IP address, gateway, subnet mask, accounts, etc). But if you try and access the IP address that's assigned to the RIOLE card, it does not respond to the request. So, basically, it doesn't work at all.

Ted you look over past threads you might find some of them really helpful - all troubleshooting steps are general

Re: Network not working RILOE II Card

Sorry, it's a DL380 G2, Pentium 3, 1.2. When I read the instructions on installing the card (brand new card) it said my type of computer needed just the single cable to be connected (many pins, small cable).

Info on card:

Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition-II
Firmware: 1.13 - 5/25/2004

When I look at the page for the RILOE on the HP Management everything comes up good (self test results all OK, power connected internally).

I will follow those links and see if anything helps.

Re: Network not working RILOE II Card

Actually... I think I see an indication of the problem. On the HP Management home page I notice a orange triangle with "!" in the "Management Processor" area for the "Embedded PPC405GP NIC" which is identified as the Remote Insight Board NIC. It says "Failed" in the link status area. Perhaps I just got a bad card? The card was brand new, so it doesn't seem so likely, but maybe.

Re: Network not working RILOE II Card

Update all what needed

Card is Installed to lower slot ?
reset defaults from F8
set new IP and subnet Mask
Connect Good working Cable to RILOE and you can try to set Same IP as for NIC

or if you have DHCP try it

Re: Network not working RILOE II Card

Ted

I have had a similar problem when upgrading from RILOE I to RILOE II cards.
I have found that if the link sped on the card and on the switch are both set to auto detect it does not work.
That may be a quirk on my network, but the ILOE and RILOE I cards don├в t have that problem.
I would make sure that you are set to 100/half or anything other than auto detect on both the card and the switch.

Re: Network not working RILOE II Card

Thanks Chris. I will give that a try. Unfortunately, I'll have to do that from the colo as I don't have remote access (given that the RILOE isn't working).
