Network trouble with Hyper-V on a DL380-G5

I have been trying for the past 2 weeks to get Hyper-V to work effectively on the Proliant DL380. I have tried all different procedures in install the OS, including the write up dated June '08 (c00710606.pdf). I have updated all drivers and firmwares, but I always end up with the same results:
I can build the Virtual Network and then the Virtual Server, but when installing a network card on the VM, I can not access the external network. If I put the VM network card on DHCP then I get a 169.x.x.x IP. If I use a static then everything just times out.
I have no trouble communicating with the host server. I have been successfully using Hyper-V on a couple of Dell servers for the past 3 months. What am I missing?
