New ML310e Gen8: P420 RAID Controller is not always seen by BIOS

Hello dear community members,

sometimes after the rebooting of my new ML310e Gen8 it does not show the installed P420 RAID controller while POST.

As follow, you don't see it in iLO, which is very frustrating.

The thing I really don't understand: ESXi is installed on this server, and even if the P420 was not seen by BIOS while accomplishing POST, the arrays are still seen by ESXi.

Yes, I have newest BIOS version on the server and on the controller.

Maybe somebody could help me?

Many thanks :)

If nobody knows, how to work out this issue, please, could someone tell, I she/he also sees this behaviour?

only thing i've seen is the card overheating and disabling itself (thermal shutdown). Certain servers require special slots ONLY.

but your system would be crashing.

Thank you for the input Sbrown... You do always see the controller in BIOS - e.g. also while cold starting?

Yes, sure :)

I have the only one PCIe card - the P420 - and it is in the slot 3.
