No F8 prompt to enter ORCA in dl380 g6 with p410i

The controller initializes, reports no drives configured, and the boot sequence continues. There is no way to enter controller BIOS to configure RAID. It does not show the prompt to press F8 to enter ORCA. But in other DL380 G6 that I have, we see the prompt F8 to enter ORCA. Any ideas?

Could be a defective Controller or System I/O bd.

Have yoy tried if you can configure it from the ACU? (Boot on Smart Start)

Have you tried upgrade BIOS / FW?

Re: No F8 prompt to enter ORCA in dl380 g6 with p410i

Hi,

flashed bios. Still no go.

Message when running array config from SmartStart CD indicates no drives are attached to raid controller.

Plus, with that in mind, when I watch the system boot up - the 410i controller initializes, reports 0 virtual disks, and then a message "no physical disks."

I opened up the system and checked the cables - all seem firmly seated.

I guess the system board needs to be replaced as the controller is onboard, am I correct?

Re: No F8 prompt to enter ORCA in dl380 g6 with p410i

Yes try all suggestions.

i normally is embedded (On-board). So I'll guess P410i is embedded.

You could also try to remove to cable to the diskcage, at the system I/O.
If you still don't get a F8 prompt, then it's defective.

On *all* Gen8 systems, the HBA prints the F8/ESC8 prompt, but does not respond to either on the redirected video and serial consoles respectively.

This is repeatable.

controller/cache could be at fault if you are unable to enter bios of the controller

Does the problem still occur when you press F8 on the local keyboard? Does this only occur when trying to use the serial console?
