No P.O.S.T after power up
What would cause the server not to start the P.O.S.T after the power is turned on? The LED above the on switch flashes, turns amber, then goes steady green. The fans turn on. The CD drive and the hard drive's LEDs flash on and off and that's all that happens. The LCD screen displays information about itself, model # and LCD firmware #, and that's all. The LEDs above the power cords are both steady green.

Re: No P.O.S.T after power up
I had this exact scenario on 2 8500'sthis weekend. Check the system interconnect LED's on the top of the server towards the back - they should tell you whether a system board or module is incorrectly seated. Failing that, when compaq sent an engineer out to fix, the first one was fixed by reseating pretty much everything (with fair amount of pushing to ensure a decent fit) and the second had a faulty memory module which was swapped out and fixed.
