No SATA on ml 111

The sata opion in the bios is greyed out, this means I can't enable sata.
When I first got this machine there used to be raid option popup before windows is launched, this nolonger appears either.
I have flashed the bios with the same version that was installed.
A sata cd rom is connected to sata1 connector.
All ideas welcome

There is no ML 111. Get the exact specs and generation.

How come you can't search by product id? how useless is that!
I see in the quick specs that there is no specific sata drive installed unless requested when new. However I am sure I turned sata off to start with. Is there a flash utility available to sort this.
I have reinstaled the original bios by backup & done a bios reset with no joy. Sata is still greyed out.

Just to confirm you have a 3 GHz processor?

Did you disconnect the SATA CD-ROM and check?

Yes 3gig p4
Tried without anything connected.
Now back to original bios. Reset brought back the network boot option but no sata. Can't see any options throughout the bios for this just the greyed out one it jumps past.

I checked some specs and although on ML 100 series SATA started being enabled from 3 GHz proc onwards, some models still came with SATA disabled permanently.

Still researching, will keep you posted.

I just ran the bios flash prog from promise for the sata & get the report that 'no controller found'
So my guess is that this is the end of the road. I had hoped to have used the internal resourse but guess I have to fit a card. Thanks for research to date :)
