No SCSI Devices Detected and no boot

Hi,

We have a Proliant ML 370 G1 with a Smart Array 431 and 3 HDD.
After a reboot, the system hang on after detecting the RAID Array. I have 2 options :
Enter ROM-Based configuration... => 1 logical drives and 3 physicals drives are detected.
Continue boot => I get the "no SCSI devices detected" and it doesn't boot.

Can someone help me please ? Thank you

Re: No SCSI Devices Detected and no boot

It looks like the loader can not find the boot drive to boot the OS. That means that there is something wrong with the logical drive or its boot partition.

If you go in the RAID config, with , are there any options to check the status of the logical drive and the physical drives?

Is there a smartstart CD for the G1 servers? Maybe the raid software in the smartstart CD has more options than the BIOS one.

Re: No SCSI Devices Detected and no boot

Thank you for the answer.

Finally we had another ML370 with the same architecture.
I switched all hard drives and SA 431 card from the "not working one" to the "working one" and it works now. I still have the "No SCSI devices detected" message, but it boots...

What does it means ?

Is the HDD connection card defective ?

Re: No SCSI Devices Detected and no boot

Does this server have two SCSI controllers, one embedded on the system board and one PCI card? In that case the message may be coming g from the embedded controller and it is normal since it has no disks attached.

Re: No SCSI Devices Detected and no boot

Yes it got embedded SCSI controllers. 2 ports.

The G1 also had the ROC option.
Where you installe the ROC in a socket, that looks like memory socket in a laptop.
Without the ROC, it was a 2 channel SCSI controller.
With the ROC it was a 2 channel Smart Arry controller.

ROC = Raid On a Chip.

The ROC was optional.

Re: No SCSI Devices Detected and no boot

In the G1, they used the same system I/O bd for the ML370 and DL380.
(If I remeber correctly, it was in the G1's)
