No disk found on Win2K installation...

Hi !

I tried to install Win2K on a ML350 G2 server, using SmartStart 5.40.

After the disks configuration, the server shut down and I have the following message : "SmartScan cannot continue without physical or logik drive error 59"

I remark that when the server boots, he shows : "SCSI BIOS not installed".

Is it the solution ???

I've lost my day searching one and I'm bored...

Can someone help me?
thx a lot !

Re: No disk found on Win2K installation...

"SCSI BIOS not installed" means that the onboard SCSI controller didn't detect any hard drives - which could be ok if they are connected to a RAID controller.

Do you have drives connected to a RAID controller ? If yes, did you configure a logical drive ?

Hi !

Above all, thx for your response.

Yes, I have 2 hard drives connected to my Smart Array Controler.

And SmartStart let me configure them into locical drive. After rebooting, the server cannot see them...

Re: No disk found on Win2K installation...

The ML350G2 should be one of the newer models that have ROM based setup utility (RBSU), don't require a system partition and should be configured with SmartStart 6.x.

Which Smart RAID controller are you using ?

One possible problem could be the boot controller order. When you boot the server you should get a prompt for pressing F8 when the Smart controller does its self test. Press F8 and you get a menu where you can set this controller as boot controller.

Re: No disk found on Win2K installation...

What RAID controller model do you have ?

Did you check controller boot order ?

Did you get SmartStart 5.40 with that server ?

Re: No disk found on Win2K installation...

yes I got it with the server...

But I find a solution...I downloaded the smart array controler and I show it to windows during the installation (F6), so it can see the drives...

thx
