No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

I'm loosing my mind here! I purchased a new Proliant product number 574016-001 with dual Sata 160GB drives. I have them mirrored at Raid 1.

Neither the HP Setup CD nor Windows 2008 will recognize any driver that came with it or that was downloaded from this site.

Someone - anyone - I need some serious help on what's up with this. I type the product number and serial number in this site and it says it can't find that number.

Please please please help!

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

Thanks for the link - I've been there and downloaded all the 2008 drivers for foundation server and NONE of them have worked.

Did I miss something or does the need to use a 2003 driver make anyone else angry?

I spent hours trying to get a driver to work. Double-checking everything in the RAID utility, checking the BIOS, blah blah blah - only to find no supported Windows 2008 64-bit driver that works with this card!

Not good for the reputation.

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

I have the OEM MS 2008 64-bit Foundation Server installed. I have the Adaptec embedded Smart SATA controller and 2 160GB drives configured RAID 1.

I had to use the Windows 2003 64 bit aarahci.sys file in order for Windows to recognize it. The HP Setup CD that came with the machine, didn't recognize the controller either. (The ACU)

And now, the drive seems to be very sluggish within Windows on the server. That's just browsing and moving the mouse around and starting little applications like Notepad.

I can't roll this OS out until I fix these things.

Does this help?

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

This link, as I mentioned above, does not give me any drivers that I haven't already attempted to install.

I have followed the instructions on this link all the way and to no avail. The firmware update - says that the server is already up to date and that this download is older.

The Sata driver installations both fail with the attached screen message. So this has not helped me.

Any other ideas? (Please see the attached.)

3.To clear the SM Bus Controller, install the Chipset driver.

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

then reboot..now what happens

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

There is no chipset driver on that link. Does it exist somewhere else?

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

Found one elsewhere. Am installing it now. Thanks! I'll let you know what happens.

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

OK - no more yellow ! points. The chipset and SM files fixed that thank you.

The installed Adaptec driver is still from 11/29/2007 v.1.4.17015.0 though. Isn't there a newer driver to use on Windows 2008 server?

Seems to me, running this old 2003 server driver is not the best way to go. See attached.

BTW - none of the new 64 bit drivers will install. They state that the hardware is not installed.

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

are you sure you have a miiror if so where do you see that , is sata raid enabled in the bios??

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

Sata RAID is enabled in the BIOS and I have it all configured as RAID 1.

It took about an hour for it to process the mirror. The drive model is Seagate Barracuda 7200 - HP number GB0160EAFJE.

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

same adaptec chipset driver should not make an issue,

but something seems odd.i would boot up in same mode and remove ghost drivers in device manager..

Re: No drivers for Proliant ML110G5 160GB Sata

Was that "Boot up in Safe Mode and remove Ghost drivers" ?

What does that mean exactly. Sorry to bother so much.
