No video output on HP ML370 G3

I have a ML370 G3 server, however I can't get any video output. The server was completely wiped before I obtained it, am I right in thinking that the bios is stored on hard drives - which if been wiped I won't have this? Can anyone help me to start setting this up - I have smartstart cd but with no video output I obviously can't do anything. All suggestions welcome.

"am I right in thinking that the bios is stored on hard drives" - No, You're very wrong.
No offence ment, it's a common misunderstanding.
The BIOS, CMOS RAM and Configuration utility (CU), is 3 diffenret parts, wich work together. The CMOS is used for storing information, on how the BIOS must handle som HW components.
The CU, is used for changing those settings.
On the older Proliants, Compaq installed the CU, on a service partition on the HDD/RAID.
So if the service partition, is installed. It doesn't mean you lost BIOS. You just can't load you CU, using the hot key (F10).
Then you would have to boot on a Smart Start CD, and run the CU from the CD.

So this isn't you're problem.

Defective or misconfigured HW.
Could be def. DIMM in bank 0, System i/o bd or CPU 0. Power supply.
Corrupt BIOS / ILo BIOS.

Try to reset cmos, see inside on the lid/hood
Remove PCI cards
If more than 1 DIMM try to swap them around.
If more the 1 CPU try to swap then around.
Remember to reset the cmos

Re: No video output on HP ML370 G3

Does it have a second VGA connection on the Rilo? Try connecting to that and see if video appears.
A separate VGA connector on a card will override the onboard connection.
