Noisy Proliant ML370

The is alot of noise coming from the server. It seems to be the fans that are creating the noise. Is there anyway to find out what is causing the noise and reduce it to acceptable levels.
Thanks
Conor

Re: Noisy Proliant ML370

Hi

I think the server comes with redundant fan you can try to swap with another server if you have one if you still feel the noise is very high you would want to call HP and get that replaced. We have ML370 servers but not heard any extra noise on the server.

Re: Noisy Proliant ML370

Have you installed the drivers for the system management controller?

If not, the fans will always run on their maximum speed.

Installing the driver will enable the temperature-sensitive control for the fans, which usually reduces the speed of the fans and makes the server quieter.

Which generation of ML370 are we talking about, by the way: the plain ML370, or ML370 G2, G3 or even G4?
