Non ECC RAN on DL585

Is it possible to use non-ECC RAM on a DL585?

Also can someone please tell me the difference between cpu/mem boards:
356783-001
382596-001
??

Thanks
Cameron

Re: Non ECC RAN on DL585

You should use only modules listed as supported:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11902_na/11902_na.HTML#Memory
Hence ECC only.

For cpu/mem boards types explanation please have a look at this pdf:
http://docs.hp.com/en/358708-008/358708-008.pdf
page 1-5

Basically they are both OK for PC2100/PC2700 memory. I think the latter is used in 2.6GHz systems, the former in slower ones, but I think both should fit in any DL585.

For PC3200 memories you would need different board: 012567-001 / 378476-001

Rgds.
