Non-System disk or disk error replace and strive any key when ready

I have some experience with Linux and Unix but not in configuring a server from scratch.

I got this error message when i powered up the server:

"Non-System disk or disk error

replace and strive any key when ready"

I got this decommission Proliant DL360 rack mount server from my company and would like to use to learn VMware vSphere Hypervisor.

I don't know what this message means but I assuming that it means that it didd not find an OS. any help would be awesome!!

Thanks ,

Fred

Re: Non-System disk or disk error replace and strive any key when ready

It means that you need to install an OS on the server.

There are many generations of DL360 (Gx-G7).

Check that your version supports the version of VMWare you want to install:

(you kind of need your CPU to be able to handle virtualization)

Some VMWare you can install inside another OS, some of their hypervisors is the primary underlying OS.
