Novell Support Pack and Compaq
I have spent the past week attempting to load Novell's NW50SP6A Service patch on a Compaq 2500 server with dual processors. Everytime, the service patch loads and runs okay and at the end the system tells me that everything is fine and to reboot the system. When I reboot, the server will crash without giving any error messages. Sometimes it stops when attempting to load NICI, and other times it will stop when attempting to detect hardware. I have loaded this service patch on three other servers (not all Compaq) that only have one processor and everything works perfectly. This problem only appears to happen on this one server with two processor. Does anyone have a clue to what the problem is or what the solution might be? Appreciate any help I can get.

After applying the serivce pack from Novell, you need to apply the NSSD (the compaq package of tailored drivers and utilities) prior to the reboot.
