I guess you mean OIDs as used with SNMP.

OIDs are used in other places too: for example, the internal parts of a SSL certificate are named by OIDs.

The root of HP-specific OID tree is at 1.3.6.1.4.1.2 (full name: iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.hp).

OID information is usually stored in MIB files.

HP publishes MIB files primarily for use with their System Insight Manager product, but the MIB file format is standardized so other tools can use those files too:

Oops, mistake: the HP OID root is 1.3.6.1.4.1.11, not ...2.
