Hi,
I have several Proliant 1600 servers with
18 Gb SCSI Ultra2 drives. The drive models are COMPAQ BB01811C9C and COMPAQ BB018122B7.
I want to update SCSI drive firmware.
I didn't find these models on http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/index.html
but I find firmware for these drives in "Options ROMPaq for SCSI Attached Drives" from March 2003:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17149.html
Firmware maintenance CD 7.x doesn't contain these disks firmware as well (in any case Firmware maintenance CD doesn't work on Proliant 1600).
Questions:
1) Why I cannot find these drive models on
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/index.html ?
2) Is Options ROMPaq from march 2003 contains LAST firmware for these drives ?
Thanks

Solution
Hi,
Yes the March 2003 firmware download will be the last version to update these disks as they are now quite old.
If you download this kit you need to make 3 floppy disks (not 15). You need to create disk 1, disk 5 (for bb01811c9c) and disk 15 (for bb018122b7). You can skip the disks you do not need to build.
Boot from disk 1, choose from menu then insert the other disks as required.
I hope this helps.

Re: Old SCSI drives firmware
Of course I must ask 'why do you want to do this firmware flash? My point would be, since there is no bin file readily available, there must be no pressing problems, so why would you work so hard to take a chance in flashing a drives firmware?

Re: Old SCSI drives firmware
Thanks.
e4services: we install windows 2003 on these servers (yes, I know it is not supported on Proliant 1600) and we decide to install newest firmware too.
