Onboard SCSI Controller/not initializing drives

I am installing a new SCSI drive to replace an old one. After installing the ROMpaq utilities, creating the Compaq partition, the dos partition, copying the dos files from the old drive, and rebooting, I cannot get Netware 4.11 to see the drive (same drivers). After loading CPQXPT.DSK, CPQSDISK.DSK, and CPQS710.DSK, I get an error "CPQSDISK: Driver failed to initialize the disk drive on CPQS710 Slot 0, SCSI ID 0". I get the same message for my second SCSI drive, SCSIS ID # 2. I have made no changes to the system other than upgrading the ROM on the system. I now get the same message if I try to install the old drive. Any thoughts. How do I erase the rom and flash back to an old version?
