Operating System Enhancements

Why is or Proliant running on linux redhat 6.2 2 CPUs make use of one processor at time. Is it a kernel problem ? and if so what kernel configuration is needed to compile
a new one (list of kernel options best suited to use full features of compaq hardware )

or is it a hardware problem (are there any additional software driver that need to be installed to enhance the operating system performance.

Any suggestion will be very nice :- )
Thanks

Re: Operating System Enhancements

You must run the Compaq system configuration program and set the processor APIC mode to "Full Table". Then boot the system back to the Linux OS and install the SMP support into the kernel. See the SMP-Howto on the Linux documentation CD for information on installing and configuring the Linux kernel for multiple processors. You can also find the Howto's on Redhat's web site.
