P2000 storage and VMware vSphere

I have 2 Proliant DL380 nodes connected to a P2000 storage and running VMware ESXi 5.0 in a vSphere 5.0 cluster.

I need to add 2 DL380 nodes to the existing infrastructure.

Can I add the new DL380 servers while keeping the existing DL380 and P2000 storage powered on and running?

Is there any risk of possible crash?

Should I power off everything before adding the 2 DL380 server?

Is there a specific procedure to confngure the exiasting P2000 storage to allow the new DL380 servers use it?

Is there any document I can read before adding the DL380 servers?

Regards

mario

Re: P2000 storage and VMware vSphere

The question is if your P2000 is FC, SAS or iSCSI?

Hope this helps!

Re: P2000 storage and VMware vSphere

The P2000 has 4 SAS host ports per controller, 2 per controller are already in use, right? Just connect the new hosts to the remaining ports (online) and do the provisioning/mapping.

Hope this helps!

Re: P2000 storage and VMware vSphere

Thank you for your message.

Should we plan a reboot of our existing ESXi hosts?

Can we connect the new ESXi hosts while the existing hosts (and VM) go on working?

Re: P2000 storage and VMware vSphere

If you don't plan to change the configuration related to the existing hosts you don't need a reboot.

Hope this helps!
