Re: P410: How can I add disk to this array?

Looking at the screen shots, it is waiting for a new disk to be inserted in box 0 bay 2.

And as mentioned by TTr the other disks are sitting in box 1.

Why did the disks fail, when it was in Box 0, and why are the disks now in box 1?.
Did you make any changes?

I notised, that you mention the disks been running in another server.

Did the disk fail while it was running in the other server?
And did you move the disks after the failure?
Or did you move the cable on the Smart Array controller, after the disk was failed?

To get it to rebuild you must put a drive in box 0 bay 2.

There's 2 possible work arounds:
1. Breake the mirror, and create a new.
This is a off-line operation.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00378986/c00378986.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

or:
2. Make the new disk spare to the Array, and it will rebuild to that. But this will leave the array in degraded status and in interim recovery mode forever/untill a disk is insertet in box 0 bay 2.

Do ensure you have got a good backup and recovery plan, before you continue.

Will it destroy my data?

Re: P410: How can I add disk to this array?

I have never tried this procedure myself.
But I don't expect so.

If I had to do this, I would try on a test system first.

Do ensure that you got a good backup and recovery plan, anyway.

I cant add this new drive to array. No such action.

Re: P410: How can I add disk to this array?

First I would move the spare drive to another bay.

Then open acu
Select the Wizards tab.
Select Array A or the unused/spare disk.
Now you should get a manage spare wizard.

I couldn't open the link to the Smart Array config guide just now.
But google for: configuring arrays on hp smart array controllers.

Its not a noob question, its a real bug in acu software, so just do not answer please if you one of 'I read a hp documentation' man.

Re: P410: How can I add disk to this array?

hmm. I can see from your screen shots, that you don't buttons when you select the unused drive.

I have not tried with this version ACU.

I have some suggetions, if you have not tried that yet.

Select the Array
The the wizards tab.

or

Select the unassigned drives head line (one step up)
Then the wizards.

Or
Reboot the server Press F8 when prompted by the Array controller, then use the ORCA.

Or.
Get nasty, try with another version of the ACU.
