P800 Controller installation problem

Hi,
I am using a DL380 g5 server with OS Redhat Linux Enterprise 4.
Now i want to install a external backup device with hp smart array P800. I have downloaded the driver (RPM File) and ran it. But after reboot
my os getting kernel panic.
can any body tell me the proper solution for the installation ?
