PCI Express X8 network card for Proliant DL380

We bought a Proliant DL380 and the only rj45 port it had was for lights out management.  I am trying to find a four port gigabit nic to put in this thing ... it has PCI Express X8 slots.  The only PCI Express 8X cards I can find are 10gig cards.  Can anyone point me to a card to use?  tia

Re: PCI Express X8 network card for Proliant DL380

I'm assuming it's a DL380p Gen8, and it was probably ordered with the 2x 10Gig SFP+ LOM built in... in which case...

Part # 593722-B21 or 647594-B21 will work in a DL380 Gen8 to add 4 x 1Gbps ethernet ports, and will fit into one of the PCIe slots.

Alternatively, you can remove the 10Gig LOM that came with the system and replace it with 629135-B21 or 665240-B21 to change the 2x 10GigSFP module for 4 x 1Gbps RJ45.

Part # compatibility can be verified on the HP Quickspecs:

Just because the slot is x8 doesn't mean you have to use an x8 card. x4 or x1 would also be compatible.

Totally agree with what David said above.
You can buy a 4x1Gb "FlexibleLOM" and replace the 2x10Gb it came with.

Or buy a 4 port PCIe NIC and keep both.
