PIN Assignment on 128MB Battery-Backed Write Cache 346914-B21

Hello,
Since I bought the wrong Cache Modul
128MB Battery-Backed Write Cache (PN 351580-B21)
instead of 346914-B21;
I need to know the Pin Assignment (or Pinout) of the little white Connector on the Cache Modul. I think this is the PowerConnector used by the external Battery Housing. So it would be useful to know where + and - are ;o)
Thanks in Advance!
Kind regards Olaf

Hey Olaf,
I think the connector would go in either ways, irrespective of the +/-;
But Im not sure; Never came across this !

Will wait for others to reply !

Cheers !

Hi James,

since this is the Powersupply for the Cache I think it is very important not to mixup + plus and - minus! Some Detail-Photos of the 346914-B21 would help. With Google Photo search I found only these little ones (see Attachement)

Hi Olaf,

Well, going by your instinct, If the +/- is that important, then I would think the Cable will go into the slot ONLY ONE way.
Example... any normal power chord, they wont plug in if you try to reverse it.

Now, If the cable can be plugged in either ways, I would think its irrelevant which one is the "+" & which one is the "-".

I am sure If the +/- is important in this case, HP designing team will never make Parts for Customers to guess & then use them.

Cheers !

Re: PIN Assignment on 128MB Battery-Backed Write Cache 346914-B21

Hi James,

sure HP will never do that ... but I wanted to build a PCB with cable by my own to set the battery housing external. Cause I can't give the 351580-B21 back. So I made from a 351580-B21 with my own PCB a 346914-B21. And it worked. The edge pin is plus. You can test it with Battery installed. Put an LED on the connector. When it is ON, then you have the polarity.
