PL800 ide controller

Good Morning

I support 58 Proliant 800 servers with 18 & 36 gig scsi. Last year we removed the tape drive and instlled 80 gig Maxtor IDE drives as a backup drive. I am getting constant errors on these drives. Sometimes I can get Maxtor error code but most times Maxtor program checks out ok.

My question is when I attach an internal IDE controller (adaptec or other) the Compaq bios boots to the IDE not the scsi drives.
Having read this forum I realize that the Proliant internal IDE controller is not going to work.

Can anyone recomend an internal IDE controller that I can disable the boot bios on and then boot to the SCSI drives.

Thanks (PS I have to get at least another school year out of these boxes before replacement)

Re: PL800 ide controller

How about attaching the Maxtor disk to the SCSI channel:
(no joke, a bridge controller)

May be you can get a "Try before buy a lot" at http://www.microlandusa.com or

(Both from "Where to buy" at www.acard.com)
