PROLIANT ML 150 G3 DIMM Allocation to Slots contradictory HP recommendation

Hello everybody:

I found two HP orginal documents on RAM allocation to slot which provide contradictory information

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

A/ SLOT PAIRS ARE 1,3 and 2,4

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetHTML.aspx?docname=c04282509#Memory

see the table in the attached docu

NOTE: Please make sure socket 1 is populated, otherwise the system will not boot, also please make sure the DIMM socket 1,3 and 2,4 should be the same size, otherwise the capacity will not be correct.

----------------------------------

SLOT PAIRS ARE 1,2 and 3,4

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/images/ap/ds_ProLiant_ML150G3_v2_EN.pdf

page 16

the recommendation is JUST THE OPPOSITE (see the table in the snapshot attached to this post)

Memory Slot1 2 3 4

Standard 512 MB 512 MB Empty Empty 512 MB

Optional 5120 MB 512 MB 512 MB 2048 MB 2048 MB

Maximum 8192 MB 2048 MB 2048 MB 2048 MB 2048 MB

NOTE: Please make sure we have to plug the socket 1, otherwise the system can't boot, also please make sure the DIMM socket 1,2 and 3,4 should be the same size, otherwise the capacity will not correct.

------------------------------------------------

Will anyone know what is correct?

thnx

AFAIR 1&3 and 2&4 must be identical, there was an advisory, but I can't find it anymore.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
