PROLIANT ML330 G3 UNSUPPORTED PROCESSOR DETECTED

What step values or, specifically, which processors are supported by the Proliant ML330 G3?

I installed one BX80532KE2800DSL73N (core stepping M0) and I receive the following message on boot: "Unsupported processor detected" System will only boot ROMPAQ utility.

I flashed the BIOS to the latest version available (09/2005). Are there plans to update the BIOS further or are there other workarounds to use processors with more current values?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Just check the specs to confirm on the processor in use.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11614_na/11614_na.HTML

BX80532KE2800DSL73N refers to a INTEL XEON PROCESOR - just check whether the procesor u have gone in for matches the specs.

Keep posting..

Re: PROLIANT ML330 G3 UNSUPPORTED PROCESSOR DETECTED

Thanks for your quick response.

However, herein lies the difficulty. The
BX80532KE2800DSL73N meets the processor specifications listed:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11614_na/11614_na.HTML
See:
http://www.intel.com/support/processors/xeon/sb/cs-009348.htm

However, HP does not list the step values supported. Typically, revisions in the processors are supported by BIOS updates or processor code updates.

I need more detail about the processors supported by the ML330 G3.

Thanks,

Dave

Generally you can use a cpu with +/- 1 stepping, if more then it will be incompatible/unsupported.

Hi Dave,

I suggest atleast run the ox with updated BIOS because same kind of issues earlier are removed with BIOS updates.

Example but not targeting your server model
