PSP 9 install fails on SLES 11 x64 due to missing dependencies

I'm trying to get the Proliant Support Pack 9 to install on a DL360 G7 running SLES 11 x64 . The setup fails due to missing package dependencies but I have searched the SLES repositories and I can't find the packages it is wanting. Below is the log file text.

Can anyone assist with how I can get these packages installed on the system?

I think the error is due to a kernel version mismatch. Easiest workaround In your case is to just deselect the hpahcisr driver as your system doesn't use that controller.

Thanks. I deselected those options in teh HP SUM and after installing the kernel-syms package the other components installed. Just a note for others though, I did have to go back and force install all the packages once again to get everything to start and the System Management Homepage to actually work right.

Sorry, forgot to mention that for SLES you need to install the kernel-syms package. (It's really only needed if your installing the NIC drivers)

Re: PSP 9 install fails on SLES 11 x64 due to missing dependencies

Ive logged a support case regarding this issue.

PSP 9.0 wont install if you are running SLES 11 x64 SP2. Also - if you are running SLES 11 x64 SP1, and have installed PSP 8.7 or PSP 9.0, you cant update the OS to SP2. It errors at 0%.

SP2 has a V3 Kernel. HP havent released a PSP that supports a v3 kernel yet.

Whats even more worrying is that in this advisory:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03221591&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=101&prodSeriesId=4194735&prodTypeId=3709945

it recommends applying SP2 to fix a potential kernel panic!!! How can you if you have the PSP installed?

To help with installation, I install 'net-snmp', 'kernel-syms' & 'expect' rpms.

I will let you know if I get an update from HP regarding my support ticket.

Cheers,

Steve

Re: PSP 9 install fails on SLES 11 x64 due to missing dependencies

Hi Steve,

I am also having the same issue with a HP DL360p ... HP are telling me to revert to a sp1 which supports a 2.6.32 Kernel!  Suse cant believe I have to go back this far....

This is a new machine I have.... how did you get sorted in the end?

Is there anyway of installing sp3 and adding some extra packages to get around this?
