Perflib 1010 error on ML370 G2 in Windows 2000 Server

I've got an ML370 G2 server with Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet NIC 7770. I have installed Windows 2000 Server with SP3. Since then I repeatedly get error event 1010 from Perflib concerning getting performance statistics of "Tcpip" service.

I've tried to reload performance counters, and to make thing described by some users of this forum, but nothing worked.

What could be the solution of this problem?

I've been having the same problem on our DL360, G2's. I've just upgraded our NIC7780 driver using the cp002876.exe. I'll know tomorrow if it works.

Re: Perflib 1010 error on ML370 G2 in Windows 2000 Server

Perflib 1010, 2003, yup, choose your poison, these cosmetic messages in your eventlog are a true annoyance. I have open cases with both Microsoft and Compaq concerning these issues, not just on the ML 370 G3 but on several DLxx G3 models as well. So here we go. MS SP4 fixes the 1017 perflib errors, private partnered fix Q318663.. adresses some items with the perfctrs.dll.. that is the only item addressed in SP4 as far as I know.

Now, the perflib 1010's check Q300956.. what I have found is that if you run perfmon, add counters and browse your perfromance objects, you may notice that the TCP UDP protocals are not present. SO here is what I uncovered with this excercise, If you uninstall the insight management agents the 1010's go away and perfmon contains the proper TCP UDP counters in perfmon. To take this to the next step, I discovered that in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\tcpip\performance, you will see a key titled "Disable Performance Counters" and is set to one, indicating that the tcpip counters are in fact disabled. So to fix your 1010 errors, simply change the value to a "1" and this will reenable the tcpip counters and your 1010 errors will go away. Now why does IM agents disable the counters? No one seems to know.. It is like IM is taking control of the counter to do it's own data collection of sorts? Not too sure though?

As for the 2003 perflib errors see Q226494 for explaination and use Q267831 for a fix. Enjoy hope this info helps

Re: Perflib 1010 error on ML370 G2 in Windows 2000 Server

I have an ML370 G3 server, running Windows 2000 Sp3 with an HP NC7781 Gigabit NIC that is showing the same messages in the Application log. I have obtained and applied the hotfix from Microsoft but the problem was not resolved. I also noticed that the affected performance counter was disabled. I am quite sure that these messages did not appear until after the Insight Management agents were installed. I will be applying Jarrod Kline's fix shortly and let you know if it works with Insight Management agents still installed.
